How to use our products
Introducing the Ultimate DURAPAN® User Guide
Welcome to DURAPAN® - your turnkey solution for protecting, collecting, and recycling liquid and solid waste generated by the construction industry. Our products not only help to divert waste from landfills but also aid in compliance with EPA, BMP, and SWPPP requirements. By choosing DURAPAN®, you are contributing to a greener and more sustainable construction process.
To ensure the best experience with our products, we have created this comprehensive user guide. Our aim is to provide you with clear, easy-to-follow instructions that will help you get the most out of your DURAPAN® products.
Inspect for Damage
Before using any DURAPAN® product, carefully inspect it for signs of damage, such as broken welds, cracks, or a distorted shape. If you find any damage, do not use the product and contact us for assistance.
Prepare the Pan
To facilitate easy release of hardened concrete and other materials, spray the inside of the pan with vegetable or form oil before each use. This will help prevent the need for plastic liners that can contaminate loads and lead to costly, non-eco-friendly landfilling.
Utilize Lids for Compliance and Prevention
During rain events, the EPA SWPPP BMP requires covers for your DURAPAN® products. We offer optional, stackable lids that can be used even when the container is full. Using these lids will not only ensure compliance with regulations but also help prevent caustic concrete washout liquids from overflowing. By keeping the project in regulatory compliance for SWPPP, you contribute to a safer and more environmentally responsible construction site.
Understanding the Dangers of Concrete Washout Liquids
Concrete washout liquids contain a variety of harmful substances, including hexavalent chromium and other metals. These substances pose serious health risks and can pollute groundwater when not properly managed. Hexavalent chromium, as portrayed in the movie Erin Brockovich, can cause severe health issues such as respiratory problems, skin irritation, and even cancer when people are exposed to it over time.
By using DURAPAN® products and following our user guide, you are taking an active role in preventing the pollution of groundwater and protecting the health of those in your community. It is crucial to handle concrete washout liquids responsibly and in accordance with regulations to mitigate these risks.
DURAPAN®: Setting the Standard in Safety and Quality
Not all washout pans are created equal. At DURAPAN®, we take pride in providing products that meet and exceed OSHA guidelines for lifting and handling:
Every DURAPAN® model is load tested at an OSHA-certified live load testing facility with 36,500 lbs, ensuring strength and durability.
Our lifting links are made by top-of-the-line Crosby and Pewag, both approved for overhead rigging.
Every pan is engineer certified, and Engineering Calculation Packets are provided at no charge, along with the load testing certificate.
Each pan features a metal identification plate and two certificates, ensuring traceability and compliance.
Unlike competitors who have copied our product images and numbers, we manufacture our pans in North America. This is a safety requirement mandated by most job sites for all products that are lifted with a forklift, crane, or arm lift.
Manage Excess Water
To remove excess water from your DURAPAN®, use a pump or ask the concrete pumper at your site to assist. This will enable the concrete mixer trucks to transport the water back to their batch plant, further reducing waste and improving efficiency.
By following this user guide, you can ensure optimal performance from your DURAPAN® products and contribute to a more sustainable construction industry. Remember, each cubic yard of recycled concrete washout material saves 2,600 pounds of waste from landfills and helps address the growing shortage of aggregate materials. Together, we can make a difference in the construction industry and work towards a greener future.
Choosing DURAPAN® products ensures that you are not only selecting an environmentally responsible solution but also a product that meets the highest safety and quality standards. With our commitment to manufacturing in North America and exceeding OSHA guidelines, you can have confidence in the reliability and safety of our washout pans.
By using this user guide and following the recommended practices, you can optimize your DURAPAN® products' performance, contributing to a more efficient and sustainable construction process. Thank you for choosing DURAPAN® and playing a part in creating a cleaner, safer, and more responsible construction industry.
